Does FUTO accept the NECO result?

NECO, which stands for National Examinations Council, is accepted by this institution as one of the O-level results that can qualify a person for admission. Just like GCE (General Certificate Examination) or WASSCE (West African Senior School Certificate Examination), NECO is also a standard examination body with recognition.

Therefore, having just a NECO result should not hinder you from applying to this great citadel of learning. A candidate should have been seated for any of these O-level exams before applying for admission, as it is a major requirement.

What is the cut-off mark for all departments in FUTO?

The cut-off mark for all departments in FUTO is slightly different from the JAMB cut-off mark. Different institutions set a cutoff mark marginally higher than the one set by JAMB for the school’s departments. 

However, the official cutoff mark for all departments in FUTO is 160 and above, depending on the course.

Is the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, offering Nursing?

If you aspire to study nursing and become a nurse, FUTO is not the place for you because it doesn’t offer nursing.

With the introduction of the School of Basic Medical Science in this institution, FUTO now offers Medicine and Surgery as a course of study.

The requirements to study this course include a minimum of five credits in O level result, a score of up to 200 in JAMB, and it must not exceed two sittings. Candidates who are eligible and meet all these criteria can apply to study this course.

What is the cutoff mark for the Federal University of Technology for Medicine and Surgery 2024? 

The cutoff mark for medicine and surgery in FUTO is 200 which is slightly higher than every other course in the institution, this is due to the highly competitive nature of medical programs in Nigeria. 

Candidates should aim to score as high as possible in the JAMB exam and check the requirements to ensure they are eligible for admission.

What is the requirement for FUTO admission?

To be admitted to the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), applicants need to meet these requirements;

  1. O’level Results: Candidates must possess at least five credit passes in relevant subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings.
  2. JAMB UTME: Applicants must score at least the required cut-off mark in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
  3. Post-UTME Screening: Successful candidates in the JAMB UTME will be required to participate in the institution’s post-UTME screening exercise.
