Details of the Federal Universities in Delta State

FUPRE

The Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE), Delta State, Nigeria was established in March 2007 under a Federal Government of Nigeria initiative to build a specialized University to produce unique high level manpower and relevant expertise for the Oil & Gas sector in Nigeria and worldwide.

At first, it occupied the PTI Conference centre, Effurun Delta state, which is few kilometres away from the permanent site. The new site covered large hectares of land generously leased by the chiefs and people of Uviwe kingdom.

NMU

The Nigeria Maritime University, founded in 2018, Nigeria Maritime University, Okerenkoko is a non-profit public higher education institution located in Okerenkoko, Gbaramatu Kingdom Delta state. Officially recognized by the National Universities Commission of Nigeria, Nigeria Maritime University, Okerenkoko (NMU) is a coeducational Nigerian higher education institution.

Nigeria Maritime University, Okerenkoko (NMU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees in several areas of study. The university has a regimentation unit with its first Chief Cadet Captain, Cadet Uwaoma Llo.
